785 new COVID cases in Pune district; 12 dead

On Sunday, December 6, Pune reported 785 new corona cases taking the district’s tally to 3,47,130 positive patients so far. In last 24 hours, 12 people have succumbed to Covid-19, the count stands at 8,478.

“There is positive news that 701 people recovered from the disease. According to officials, the cumulative count stands at 3,27,824. Among the new cases, 351 are in PMC, 167 in Pimpri-Chinchwad area, 202 in Pune rural and 65 in cantonment areas,” said Dr Bhagwan Pawar, district health officer.

“The number of active COVID cases in Pune city on Saturday stood at 5,304, said the officials. Of these 425 are critical — 250 are on ventilators and 175 in ICU without. There are 1,142 patients on oxygen therapy. Within 24 hours, 3,736 tests were conducted by PMC, which took the total to 8.37 lakh,” said Dr Ashish Bharti, PMC health chief.

Among the 12 deceased, one 40-year-old man was brought dead. His address is yet unknown. Another 46-year-old man died because of type one respiratory failure. He was suffering from hypertension and obesity.

4,922 fresh cases have been added to the tally taking Maharashtra’s count to 18,47,509. 95 have died in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 47,694.
