Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker Nears USD $1.1 Billion at box offices worldwide

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker didn’t do well at the box office, the film still managed to have a steady run. It took almost 10 weeks for the action-adventure sci-fi movie to reach the billion-dollar mark at the international Box office. It made nearly USD $514.2 million domestically.

The ninth instalment of the long-running Star Wars franchise came in just behind critically acclaimed blockbuster ‘Joker’. The movie received mixed reviews from the critics and the fans which slowed down its box office earnings, cashing just $70m worldwide since January 15th.

The Rise of Skywalker succeeded both Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home in domestic rankings. Both films had performed better in the International market. Captain Marvel’s international box office collections stand at 1.128 billion whereas Spider-Man: Far From Home is at $1.132 billion.

The future appears bleak for the films and the possibility of any significant increase in the numbers seems far-fetched.

The 142 minute long Star Wars movie has earned  $1,072,101,852 worldwide. ( $557,863,059 International and $514,238,793 Domestic )

Extended  and deleted scenes will both feature in the Star Wars :
The Rise of Skywalker’s comic adaptation, which will be released this May.
