Recently, MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party, decided to spend the night inside the state legislative assembly of Punjab as a sign of protest against the current Congress government in Punjab headed by Captain Amarinder Singh. The reason behind the protest has been the secrecy maintained by the Congress government by not sharing the recent drafts of the three farm laws in the agricultural sector.
While sitting on the assembly building’s premises, the MLA’s presented their demand to the government to share the draft of the law that is proposed on agriculture which will be introduced in the assembly.
Some of the AAP MlAs while sitting in the well of the house, till late on Monday (19th October) persistently demanded the copies of the three draft bills.
Punjab has been against the three draft bill which and have been trying to find ways out to counter the centre’s farm laws effects in the state by bringing its own state laws as much as can be done.
Harpal Cheema who is also the AAP leader of opposition mentioned that while the AAP will support the government’s legislation against the three farm laws, the AAP should be provided with the draft of the bills without which debates and discussions on such an important issue cannot take place. He added further saying that they haven’t got copies of several other bills as well.
The Shiromani Akali Dal that recently decided to break its alliance with the BJP over disagreement about the farm laws, mentioned that the bill should have been presented in the state legislative assembly on Monday (19th October) itself.
The three farm bills became law on September 29 with the assent of President Ram Nath Kovind.
