American Finance Tycoon, Jeffrey Epstein Commits Suicide in Jail

American business tycoon and politically connected financier Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found dead on Saturday at a federal jail in New York where he was serving his term as a convicted sex offender. The prison investigators have stated the cause of death as a possible suicide attempt.

The body was found not responding in the cell at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Epstein was found dead in his cell with injuries on his neck due to hanging. Last month, he was found unconscious in his cell after an apparent and failed suicide attempt and was placed on suicide watch. 

Epstein, a finance stalwart was termed jail sentence because he unlawfully engaged women in sexual slavery, molestation of women including minor girls up to 14 years of age. The federal investigators identified 36 women who had been abused sexually by Epstein. He was arrested on July 6th, 2019 for the second time on federal charges for being the mastermind behind sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York, wherein he had pleaded not guilty but had been held without bail. He was previously accused of hiring girls under the age of 18 to engage in sexual acts at his Manhattan and Florida mansions between 2002 and 2005. 

New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio has asked for a full term investigation of this case and has called it, “way too convenient”. Blasio, who is also running for the Presidential nomination of the Democratic said, “What a lot of us want to know is, what did he know?” 

Jennifer Araoz, another alleged victim told CNBC, “I am angry Jeffrey Epstein won’t have to face the survivors of his abuse in court.”
