Amidst rising covid cases, Ahmedabad administration has decided to impose night curfew on the city from 9 pm to 6 am. The curfew will be imposed from Friday, November 20, 2020 till further orders. According to the officials, Ahmedabad city saw a surge in cases due to the festival season and has reported a total of 46,022 coronavirus cases till Wednesday, November 19.
The officials have said that the hospitals in the city have enough beds to accommodate new Covid-19 patients. Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Gupta, officer appointed on special duty for Covid-19 in Ahmedabad said that there are some 40 percent beds in the hospitals that are still available for covid-19 patients. He further added that the health department reported 220 new cases on Wednesday and with five more fatalities in the Ahmedabad district, the total fatalities have now risen to 1,949.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation added 14 more areas to the list of 100 micro containment areas on Wednesday. The corporation said that the residential areas and the individual apartments have also been designated as containment areas due to the rise of Covid-19 cases and this decision has further helped the workers of the corporation to carry out surveillance and other activities to control the spread of the disease.
Ahmedabad is seeing a rise in cases whereas another city where Covid-19 cases are reaching new heights everyday is the national capital, Delhi. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has now come up with new control measures along with Home Minister Amit Shah. The cases in the national capital and other cities have witnessed sudden spike due to the festival season. The central government and health officials have asked the citizens to be strict towards their health and mustn’t avoid wearing masks and maintain social distancing at any cost.
