Lal thanhwala, the two time chief minister lost both from Champai south and Serchhip. It is worth noting that It was from the Serchhip seats that he won a record 7 times since 1984, barring 1998.

Tawanluia was elected as the deputy leader of the party whereas Lalruatkima was elected as the party’s secretary.

Talking to the media, Zoramthanga said “ We will not have any coalition government either with BJP or any other ways because my party can form the government on its own. We have got 26 seats out of 40. We’re a part of NEDA(North-East Democratic Alliance)&NDA but we wouldn’t like to join Congress or UPA.”

Speaking further about how he wishes to start functioning, he added “Since I am going to form the government, my first priority will be the imposition of  a prohibition on liquor, followed by repairment of  roads & implementation of  our flagship Social Economic Development Programme (SEDP).”
