In an official statement released on its website on Tuesday, the Portuguese Football Federation confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus.
The Juventus forward is said to be feeling well and is asymptomatic. He is now under self-isolation and will miss Juventus’ Seria A game against Crotone this weekend as well as their Champions League group stage encounter against Dynamo Kiev on 20th October. He is expected to be back for Juventus’ clash against Barcelona on 28th October, where he will face his old rival Lionel Messi for the first time since moving from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018.
Ronaldo is currently on International duty for Nations League with the National Side. He played the full 90 minutes with the Portuguese squad against France on Sunday and started against Spain in Lisbon last Thursday. He was set to be a part of the team to face Sweden but will miss due to his positive test.
Ronaldo, on Monday, had shared a picture on Instagram of him having dinner with the entire team. Following the positive case, the remaining players in the Portuguese squad underwent testing. With all the reports coming negative, the players have started their preparation for the next game.
