In the second qualifier of IPL 2020, on Sunday, Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad, at Abu Dhabi. Shreyas Iyer led DC secured a place in the finals by registering a 17 run win against David Warner led SRH. This is the first time in the history of IPL that the franchise has qualified for the finals. DC will face Mumbai Indians in the final on Tuesday.
DC won the toss and chose to bat. There were no changes in the SRH squad. As for the DC squad, Praveen Dubey and Shimron Hetmyer were included in the playing XI.
Shikhar Dhawan and Shimron Hetmyer helped the Capitals score a massive total of 189/3. Dhawan played an impressive inning scoring 78 runs off 50 balls. The West Indies batsman, Hetmyer’s inning came to an end at 42 off 22 balls. 38 of Marcus Stoinis helped the DC squad put up the grand total and qualify for their maiden final. Stoinis became player of the match for his 38 off 27 deliveries and 3 crucial wickets. Purple cap holder Kagiso Rabada took 4 wicket.
Chasing the target of 190, the Orange Army got off to a poor start, losing its opener David Warner for just 2 in the second over of the match. Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg’s wicket fell in quick succession for 21 and 17 respectively in the fifth over of the match. Kane Williamson’s 67 off 45 brought hopes for the SRH but his dismissal in the 17 over proved catastrophic for the team.
