Delhi on Fire: Death Toll Rises to 13 As Violence Continues

 On Tuesday, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital official said ‘ The death toll from protests against Indian Citizenship Bill that broke out in several areas of Northeast Delhi has claimed 13 lives so far. Eleven Civilians, Including a constable, are among the deceased. While several others were injured in the violence that took place in the centre. A mosque is reported to have been burnt by an armed mob.

The web news portal ‘ The wire’ reported that mob chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ while the violence took place in the national capital. A journalist is shot and several others have been injured and beaten up by the mob. Social media is flooded with videos where the injured are lying on the ground and are being forced to sing the National Anthem.

Newly re-elected CM Arvind Kejriwal told the ANI News Agency that there is a severe shortage of Police officers in the capital. While the Delhi Police is reassuring the people of Delhi and has made a statement that the situation is under control.USA president Donald Trump is on his two-day visit to India and showed his concern regarding the violence in Delhi and stated “ I am aware of the violence in Delhi but have not discussed it with PM Modi. The borders adjoining the northeast Delhi have been sealed and movement has been restricted by the Delhi police.
