In yet another standoff between the two countries, China has accused the Indian soldiers of firing warning shots near the Pangong Tso lake and attempting to cross the Line of Actual Control in Shenpao mountain near the south bank of Pangong Tso, which prompted the Chinese soldiers to retaliate against the issued threat.
It further accused the nation of creating tensions in the region and violating several agreements which could lead to disputes and misunderstandings in the near future. Zhang Shuili, Spokesperson of China’s Western Theater Command requested the Indian soldiers to return to their border and demanded an investigation against those who opened fire in order to avoid a recap of such events in the future.
This incident sparked a series of statements with both sides blaming each other for the discrepancy caused. The Global Times reported the situation by saying ” The Indian Army again illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control in Shenpao mountain near the south bank of Pangong Tso Lake on Monday, PLA Western Theater Commander Spokesperson revealed.”
While, on the other hand, the Indian Army today denied the statement saying their soldiers didn’t cross the disputed land nor resorted to any aggressive measures such as firing or any other means of violence.
“It is the PLA that has been blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive manoeuvres, while engagements at military, diplomatic and political levels are in progress” the Indian statement reported.
The brawl among the nations has been going on since April where soldiers have been placed on both sides in order to instil peace. Talks to resolve the situation have been on the table for three months, where five Lieutenant – level meetings have already been conducted, but no productive solution has cropped up so far.
