Jammu:In a joint operation of the Indian army and Jammu & Kashmir(J&K) police, six terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were gunned down in the Sekipora area of Anantnag district on Friday.
Based on a tip from credible sources, the police & army’s three Rashtriya rifle started a search operation in the jungles of Sekipora area, around 50 kilometres from Srinagar.
J&K Police identified the terrorists as Azad Malik, Shahid Bashir, Unaid Shafi, Firdous Najar, Basit Ishtiyaq and Aqib Najar. Malik, a top LeD commander, was also involved in the killing of the veteran journalist Sujat Bukhari in the June of 2018.
Rajesh Kalia, army spokesperson commented that all the terrorists had been killed without any collateral damage, calling it one of the most successful operations in recent years.
