Bangtan Sonyeondan (popularly known as BTS), a Korean boy group, has made history by having the largest YouTube premiere for their music video, ‘ON’ from their latest full-length album ‘7’.
The music video was released on February 28th at midnight KST through YouTube’s feature that enables viewers worldwide exclusive access and the ability to stream the music video together. A total of 1.5 million people worldwide watched the premiere. The news was confirmed by Kevin Alloca, the Head of Culture and Trends at YouTube on Twitter, stating, “Confirmed: This officially set the new record for peak viewers on a YT premiere, besting the previous record by more than 500,000 viewers.”
The group’s new music video has been making the rounds on social media and reached 10 million views in a record 65 minutes while their previous music video, ‘Boy With Love’ featuring pop artist Halsey took nearly three hours to reach this milestone. This video currently holds the YouTube record for the most viewed music video on the platform. This highly anticipated music video comes almost a week after the release of their album that has been smashing records for the most pre-orders on Hanteo. The song went onto top music charts in 64 different regions of the world on iTunes.
A Kinetic Manifesto Film was released to raise anticipation for the music video that reached 43.24 million views on YouTube in 24 hours. The group is currently promoting their album in South Korea after having completed their appearance on various American talk shows such as Jimmy Fallon and the Late Late Show with James Corden.
