In a road accident that occurred at Karette (about 30 kilometres away from Thiruvanthapuram), four people were killed, and one injured on Monday. The incident took at the wee hours of 12:40 am on the Kerette-Kilimanoor road.
The police stated that the car had lost control, wheeled off the road and plunged hard into a concrete conduit. The impact of the accident completely crushed the vehicle and left it in mauled remains. The police along with the fire force crew from Venjaramoodu worked together to rescue the victims from the spot and rush them to the nearest hospital.
The four deceased passengers have been identified as Lal, a resident of Poojapura, Shameer from Venjaramoodu, Sulphi who ailed from Kadakkal, and Najimudeeb who was from Muttada. The one remaining passenger who has been injured and admitted at a private hospital has been identified as Nivas. The cops claimed that his conditions are stable.
One of the deceased named Lal was an accuse in a murder case that happened at Kazhakootam. Lal was out on bail and it was alleged that he murdered a worker at a fruit shop located in Kazhakootam.
According to the police, the five were friends who were on the way to Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala. The Malayalam paper, Mathrubhumi reported that the probable cause of the incident might be that the driver had fallen asleep and the car diverted off the road. The exact cause of the accident isn’t yet ascertained and further details regarding the same are yet to be discovered.
