The focus was on the inaugural champion of IPL – Rajasthan Royals when they met the two times champions of IPL – Kolkata Knight Riders in the twelfth match of the ongoing Dream 11 IPL 2020, as RR were the only unbeaten team in the IPL 2020, but to maintain this streak they were dependent on their top order batsman set up a good batting performance. Eventually their top order batsman failed to create an impact in the match and as result KKR won the match by 37 runs, ending the unbeaten streak of RR.
The main challenge of RR in the match was to get adapted to the long boundaries and pitch of the Dubai International Stadium, as they were playing first time out of their home ground in Sharjah with short boundaries.
RR skipper Steven Smith won the toss and asked the KKR batsman to bat first, as RR skipper wanted to put pressure on the inexperienced death bowling attack of KKR. Both the teams were playing with an unchanged side from their last games.
RR bowlers did not provide the liberty to KKR batsman to start off with a flier, as they took crucial breakthroughs at important moments of the match. The KKR innings was anchored by young sensational batsman from Punjab, Shubman Gill, who scored a top score of 47 runs from 34 balls. Andre Russell’s arrival on the batting crease in the 11th over, forced RR skipper to back to his trump card Jofra Archer, but he did not disappoint his captain and created a mini collapse in KKR batting. The main challenge of RR was how they will play the entire 20 overs and decrease the margin of defeat, so that their net run rate did not get hamper. English all-rounder Tom Curran took the onus to bat through the 20 overs to decrease the margin of defeat, as he scored an unbeaten 54 runs from 36 balls, but this inning was not sufficient to save RR from tasting the first defeat of the Dream 11 IPL 2020.
