Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki fame actor Manish Goel is soon to be seen on the big screen in Manish Vatssalya’s directorial film, Hanak. The film is an adaptation of Mridul Kapil’s book ‘Main Kanpur Vala’. In the film, Manish Goel will be playing the role of late gangster Vikas Dubey who was encountered by the UP police.
Hanak’s shooting will begin from November 27 and will be produced by Mohaan Nadaar and Amit Gupta. Talking about the film, director Manish Vatssalya mentioned in one of his interviews that he has no intention to glorify the gangster rather he has an objective to present the crime in its most “naked” form. He said to the Indian Express, “The society has to always be a mirror reflecting the mindset of its inhabitants. Unfortunately, we as the film fraternity have started glorifying the evil and have started affecting impressionable minds of the viewers taking them closer to vices. I felt it was my duty to present the crime in its most naked and gruesome form so that the viewers are repelled by it.”
Hanak’s story is knit around gangster Vikas Dubey, a Kanpur based gangster who had his hand behind many murders including the killing of eight policemen during an attempt of his arrest. He was shot dead by the police on July 10, 2020. The police claimed that he was trying to flee when the car overturned on the outskirts of Kanpur in an accident while carrying him from Ujjain. The police further claimed that a police SUV overturned at Bhaunti in Kanpur district as the road was slippery after the rains. They said that he snatched a pistol from one of the four policemen and then in his attempt to escape, he was encountered on the spot by the police.
