The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be organizing a time themed fashion walk on the 150th anniversary. The exhibition – About Time: Fashion and Duration, which starts on May 7, will include ornaments and dresses starting from the 1870 inception of the institute till date.

“Fashion’s most distinctive power, one of the most basic, is enabling us to come unstuck from time, Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of womenswear at Louis Vuitton, argued that clothes were wearable treasures that can continue to tell their vital stories about who we were, who we are and where we are going,” said Andrew Bolton, the curator of the show.

The event which is stated to go on from May 7 to September 7, will also speak on the issues of sustainability. The issue of the fashion industry being one of the major polluters with loads of waste generated and billions of dollars wasted, the show will address the various ways in which changes can be brought so that the damage to the environment can be reduced.

The real impact of the MET museum anniversary will be felt at the MET Gala wherein various celebrities walk through the red carpet, which is also described as the ‘Halloween for fashion people’. The event has been previously attended by Rihanna, Jared Leto, Priyanka Chopra, Zayn Malik and many others – bringing in their own personal style to the theme of their attending year.
