Over 15 lakh students appeared for the National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test on 13th Sept 2020, according to the National Testing
Agency (NTA). The body has imposed strict precautionary measures for the
candidates in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was conducted
between 2 and 5 pm. The instructions regarding precautions that
candidates must take were detailed in the admit card itself.

In order to enable adequate social distancing during the exam, the NTA
increased the number of exam centers from the earlier planned 2546 to
3843, whereas the number of candidates was reduced from 24 to 12 per
room.

Along with this, the agency also set a dress code for the candidates
which is slightly different this year bearing in mind the covid19
pandemic. As per this dress code, wearing masks is mandatory and
students were also advised to wear gloves and face shields for added
safety. Short-sleeved light-colored clothes were allowed but
dark-colored full sleeves shirts and dresses with big buttons and
tight clothes had been advised against. Along with this, students were
also asked to refrain from wearing shoes and instead wear open-toed
footwear. Candidates requiring a specific attire pertaining to
religious reasons were asked to report to the examination hall for
mandatory frisking.

The NEET 2020 is a pen and paper-based medical examination which had
already been deferred twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was
originally scheduled for 3rd May 2020, but was then postponed to July and was finally held on Sunday 13th Sept 2020.
