Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Matsya Sampada Yojana and the E-Gopala App today to aid the farmers and people involved in pisciculture i.e rearing and breeding of fish, keeping in mind the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections.
The app aims to eliminate the involvement of middlemen which further reduces the costs incurred to avail their services, thereby giving the producers the freedom and the necessary funds to improve and multiply their production by leaps and bounds.
It further provides information on vaccination dates, appropriate diet to be followed for cattles, guidelines on pregnancy diagnosis and latest updates on government schemes and campaigns.
The Matsya Sampada Yojana scheme was initiated to improve and sustain the fisheries sector in the country. It is introduced with the sole purpose of catering to the problems related to fish production and productivity, quality and management in addition to modernizing and strengthening the value chain and establishing a robust foundation towards the welfare of the fishers.
An estimated amount of Rs. 20,050 crores has been allocated for this scheme to be implemented within a period of 5 years i.e from 2020 to 2025 in all states and union territories.
The scheme was launched today for farmers in Bihar and was announced digitally with Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Phagu Chauhan along with the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
“Today the schemes that have been initiated, the thought behind that is that our villages become pillars of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. The attempt is that now in this century – Blue Revolution means work related to the fisheries, White Revolution means dairy work, Sweet Revolution means honey production. It will enrich our villages further, strengthen them.” the Prime Minister said.
