A policeman was injured as militants hurled a grenade at a police station in Srinagar’s Lal Bazaar area on Thursday.

The militants tossed the grenade towards the Lal Bazaar Police Station which landed near a garbage dump. According to the officials, only one cop sustained minor injuries in this blast.

However, this explosion near the garbage dump has been named as a “mysterious explosion” and has been further investigated.

On Wednesday, two militants and one CRPF jawan were killed in a shootout at Shalteng which is on the outskirts of the city while one ultra was captured alive. The family of the captured militant is claiming that he had no terror links and was injured in the cross-fire between security forces and the militants.

A similar case happened on February 2nd near Pratap Park in the Lal Chowk area of the city. A grenade was hurled on a CRPF personnel who was posted on duty near the park. The explosion resulted in injuring two jawans and seven civilians. The man who allegedly hurled this grenade was arrested today. According to the official sources, the suspect’s name is Naveed Lateef, a resident of Pulwama district. He was arrested from the city in the early hours and he is being questioned.
