Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is organising a campaign where they want to attract school and college goers to use it’s buses, to improve the ridership.

Anant Waghmare, PMPML’s Traffic Manager claimed to have brought in new electricity-run buses and air-conditioned buses to make the travel comfortable for the passengers this summer. Their goal is to encourage students to use public transport instead of autorickshaws and two-wheelers. “Women special Tejaswini buses are a secure and safe way for female students to travel. Considering all these benefits, we intend to attract more students to use PMPML buses, ” said Waghmare.

The campaign that’s being organised by PMPML will primarily include visiting schools and colleges to promote the use of public transport. Furthermore, they are also going to persuade professors to use their buses to commute.

During the board exams season, PMPML will induct additional buses to make travelling easy to exam centres for the students. “The HSC exams commence from February 18 and SSC from March 3. To facilitate these students’ travel to examination centres, the PMPML has decided to run additional buses on the routes. All 14 depots have been instructed to run additional buses and keep these buses in the best health to avoid inconvenience to students,” said the Traffic Manager.
