The two arch rivals of Dream 11 IPL 2020 – Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians were up against each other in the tenth match of the ongoing Dream 11 IPL 2020.  MI always had the upper hand against RCB in all the matches played across all the seasons of IPL. The match turned out to be a run fest contest between the two teams, where 420 runs were scored in 42 overs (402 runs in combined both innings and 18 runs combined in both the super over innings). RCB won the match by keeping their nerves in the super over, beating Mumbai Indians.

The match was also seen as a contest between the captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma of Indian Cricket Team. MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked RCB to bat first in Dubai. RCB skipper Virat Kohli mentioned in the toss that he was also willing to bat first in the game. RCB was starting with three changes in their line up whereas MI was starting with only single change in the line up from the previous games.

RCB batsmen were spot on with their plan and started the attacking game against MI bowlers from the start of their innings. Aaron Finch took the initiative of attacking MI bowlers and started dispatching the ball across all the areas of the ground, whereas Devdutt Padikkal started playing the anchor role by giving the strike to his partner Aaron Finch. RCB were comfortably placed at 74/0 in eight overs. Then Rohit Sharma brought back his strike bowler Trent Boult into the attack. Inclusion of Trent Boult in the attack brings MI the dangerous wicket of Aaron Finch. The RCB innings was then started to lose the momentum after Finch wicket when Virat Kohli also got out cheaply. The onus was then on the young Karnataka batsman Devdutt Padikkal to stitch a partnership with AB DE Villiers and also gave RCB the required momentum. Both of them stitch a good partnership, and provide RCB the required momentum. AB DE Villiers took the onus on him to give the finishing touch to RCB innings along with all-rounder Shivam Dube. Both of them scored 47 runs in the last 17 balls, to post a respected total of 201/3 in 20 overs.

MI was chasing a record target of 202 in 20 overs, as they had never chased in any target excess of 200 in all editions of IPL to win a match. MI innings never started off from the first over only due to accurate length and line of the RCB bowlers as they were reduced to 39/3 in 6.4 overs losing the important wicket of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Quinton De Kock. A young sensational batsman from Jharkhand, who was playing his first match of Dream 11 IPL 2020, Ishan Kishan took the onus on him to guide the chase of The MI innings. Ishan Kishan looked in full control of his innings and built a good partnership with Hardik Pandya. But after the departure of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan took the onus on them to guide the chase. Pollard scored a 20 ball fifty to keep MI’s hopes alive in the game. Ishan Kishan played a sensational knock of 99 runs from 58 balls, but eventually he got out in the 19.5 overs of the game and the match got tied. RCB bowlers conceded 90 runs in the last five overs, which again raises the issue of their death bowling in slog overs of Dream 11 IPL 2020.

Super Over was to be followed next to get the winner of this run fest contest.

MI hard hitting batsman Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya came out to face Navdeep Saini in the super over. Both the batsman tried their best to hit as many boundaries in the super over, but clever bowling from Navdeep Saini did not give them any chance and they could only manage to hit only boundary and settle with the score of 7/1 in super over.

On chasing 8 runs in a super over was like a cake walk for RCB batsman, but they knew it would not be easy for them as they had to face World’s Best Death Bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the super over. Two experienced batsman, Virat Kohli and AB DE Villiers took the onus on their shoulder to guide their team to a comfortable super over win. Jasprit Bumrah tried his best to defend eight runs in the super over, but it was too little for him to defend. As a result, RCB kept their nerves in the super over to win the match, beating MI.

AB DE Villiers was adjudged as Man of The Match for his sensational innings of 55 runs in 24 balls and six runs in 3 balls of super over.
