Telugu film industry stalwart, Jaya Prakash Reddy passed away on Tuesday morning in his residence at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh following a massive cardiac arrest. The veteran actor of ‘Venkatesh’ fame was 74 years old. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and several public figures have taken to Twitter to express grief over the loss of the popular actor.
Reddy was last seen starring in Sarileru Neekevvaru, alongside Mahesh Babu which released in January 2020. He has appeared in many celebrated comic and villain roles over the years including popular films likeSeethayya, Samarasimha Reddy, Temper, Gabbar Singh among many others. He has also featured prominently in successful Tamil films including, Dhanush’s Uthamaputhiran and Surya’s Aaru.
Reddy has been celebrated for his versatile performances and memorable cinematic moments. Former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed regret on his demise on Twitter and wrote, “Telugu cinema and theatre has lost a gem today with the demise of Jayaprakash Reddy Garu.” Actors Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR also took to the popular micro-blogging platform to convey their grief with the former stating, “Saddened by the passing of Jaya Prakash Reddy Garu. One of TFI’s finest actor-comedians. Will always cherish the experience of working with him.”
The famed actor who has left his mark on the Telugu film industry is survived by his wife and two sons, Dushyanth and Niranjan. Tribute and condolences have poured in from across the spectrum as actors, politicians, and fans mourn his demise.
