In a rather unusual case, a 42-year old dentist identified as Sayeeda Ameena Nahim in Bengaluru has been pronounced guilty for chopping off her boyfriend’s private part. The decision which was taken by the City Civil and Sessions Court in Koramangala, Bengaluru, sentenced her a rigorous punishment of 10 years along with a fine Rs. 15,000.
Sayeeda has also been ordered to pay Rs. 2 lakh as compensation to the victim. The captive is a native of Gurappana Palya.
The incident happened on November 29, 2008, when Sayeeda chopped off her boyfriend’s penis after he got married to another woman. Judge Vidyadhar Shirahatti, on December 11th, said, “The victim has lost his marital life and has suffered mental agony. No amount will be sufficient for compensating this. However, some amount has to be fixed, apart from the fine to be imposed. “
Mir Arshad Ali, The victim, is receiving compensation under the state’s Victim Compensation Scheme.
A report, according to The Times of India said that the prosecution told the court that Mir and Sayeeda were in a relationship. Mir, however, broke up with Sayeeda and got married to another woman.
The boy’s marriage to another girl bugged the dentist and she asked him to meet her. Then on November 29,2008, Sayeeda invited Mir to her clinic and served him juice with a drug. After he consumed the juice, he felt unconscious. The dentist then used one of her sharp equipments to chop off his genitals. Following this, she took Mir to a hospital and fled.
Sayeeda’s lawyer claimed that she was innocent. Sayeeda also claimed that Mir met with an accident when he was on his way to her clinic. The court, however, observed that Mir did not have any other injury on his body and convicted Sayeeda.
