India celebrated 77 years of independence on August 15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at Red Fort, which was followed by his speech about India’s glorious future. He also touched upon several ongoing issues.

Modi talks about Manipur

He mentioned the ongoing violence in the state. He said that the whole country is with them, and especially the Central and State governments are making constant efforts to maintain peace in Manipur.

“The whole country is with the people of Manipur. Peace is the only way to resolve all disputes. The Central Government, along with the Manipur government, are making efforts to ensure that peace returns to the state as soon as possible,” he said.

After talking about Manipur, he saluted the freedom fighters whose struggles led India toward independence.

“Realize all Dreams”

PM Modi shared his vision for how India is expected to progress soon. He highlighted the importance of “realizing all dreams”. He mentioned the role of technology and youth, especially from tier 2 and 3 cities, in leading India in the future with their innovative start-ups. He called today’s era “Amrit Kaal” for Indians. Any effort or sacrifice made during this period is going to help the country grow in the coming years.

“Today, we have democracy, demography, and diversity; these three together can realize the dreams of our nation”. “The world is technology-driven, and with our talent in technology, India will have a new image, a new role, and a huge impact on the global stage,” PM Modi stated.

India’s Women

He pointed out how Indian women are getting into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) more than ever. While lauding the efforts and expanse of Self-help groups, he said that he wants to make two crores ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

The New Vishwakarma Yojana

He mentioned that the Central Government will initiate a new scheme called ‘Vishwakarma Yojana, which will be initially allocated Rs. 13000 to 15000 crores in September. This scheme was also a highlight of the 2023 budget. This will focus on helping those who possess a traditional set of skills by ensuring their training and empowerment.

PM on Natural Calamities in India

He addressed the massive floods that have taken place in various parts of the country this year due to erratic rainfall. 

“This time, a natural calamity has created unimaginable crises in several parts of the country. I express my sympathies to all families who have faced this,” he said. While giving his sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased, he has assured them of the combined help and aid of the Central and State Governments.

Modi on Corruption in India

“The BJP government weeded out around 10 crore fake beneficiaries of various welfare schemes; the seizure of ill-gotten assets has also risen by 20 times,” he said.

While taking a jibe at the Congress government, he mentioned that the politics of appeasement and dynasties had caused long-lasting damage to the situation of social justice in the country. He stated that their politics work “for the family, with the family, and by the family”. PM Modi’s government wants to continue its fight against corruption while taking a zero-tolerance stand towards all types of corruption.
