On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the USA for a three-day visit to attend an Annual Quad Summit and address the key conclave being held at the United Nations. He landed in Philadelphia first, for his onward journey to Wilmington i.e. US President Joe Biden’s hometown.

PM Modi will also hold several distinguished meetings and bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden and various other world leaders on the set margins of the Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware, and finally the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The Annual Quad Summit is expected to introduce an entire series of new initiatives for boosting mutual understanding and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and further explore more ways to find objectively peaceful solutions to the conflicts that have been occurring between Ukraine and Gaza.

The Prime Minister’s other engagements also included attending an Indian diaspora event in Long Island and participating in a round table conference with the CEOs of certain American firms working on revolutionary, cutting-edge technology such as quantum computing, AI, and semiconductors. He said that the community has made a significant place for themselves in the USA, contributing to a positive impact among diverse sectors. Sharing a post on ‘X’ about the same, PM Modi wrote, “The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. It is always a delight to interact with them.”.

PM Modi will travel to New York from Wilmington, to attend an Indian community event at Long Island on 22nd September. He will address the Summit of the Future at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) the next day. The summit’s theme, ‘ Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’, is significant, conveying stakeholdership.

The Quad Leaders’ Summit this year was supposed to be held in India, but US President Joe Biden was keen to hold the event in his hometown hence, India has agreed to host the next Quad Summit, which will take place in 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs clarified. This will also be a farewell summit for both, President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as they near the end of their office terms; 20th of January 2025, for the US president, and 1st of October 2025 for the Japanese prime minister. The fourth leader who is attending the meeting is Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. All the leaders will together review and evaluate the progress achieved by Quad over the last one-year and set the agenda for next year, to assist the Indo-Pacific region countries in meeting their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other aspirations.
