Recently, the ‘Swastha Nari Sashkat Pariwar Abhiyaan’ was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was launched parallel to the 8th Poshan Maah as a drive that focuses on building better healthcare systems across India, along with developing nutrition services for children, especially teenage girls and women. This information was issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India.

This enterprise is being led in a joint collaboration by the family welfare and women and child development associations, along with the Ministry of Health. The health ministry will place an emphasis on establishing proper health services, including the availability of health camps that provide preventive, promotive, and curative assistance. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women and Child Development will cooperate by combining Poshan Maah activities with the campaign.

This will be done to engage women and girls in Anganwadi centres where seminars will be held that delve into detail about nutrition counselling, recipe learning and cooking demonstrations. Altogether, both the associations shall raise educational information through awareness campaigns that talk about anaemia prevention, menstrual hygiene and balanced diets. Thus ensuring that the nutrition and health of women and adolescent girls are met with proper comprehension and in a coordinated manner.

A Press Information Bureau statement mentioned that, “The Swastha Nari Sashkat Pariwar Abhiyaan aims to advance the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Health, Poshan (Nutrition), Fitness, and a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

The report also stated, “It will strengthen screening, early detection, and treatment linkages for non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease, while also promoting maternal, child, and adolescent health through.”

This campaign commenced from 17th September and shall be continued till 2nd October. Under this, there will be around 10,000 such medical health camps set up across the nation, which makes it the largest ever outreach programme that works for women’s health betterment. Many district hospitals and government health facilities will also lend a helping hand.

Public officials such as the state and central ministers, MPs and other representatives will also participate in the campaign. Along with this, ASHAs, ANMs, Angamwadi workers, urban local bodies and the MY Bharat volunteers, accompanied by the youth groups, are also going to lead community mobilisation at grassroot levels.
