A candidate from the Shiv Sena party was stabbed during an election campaign. This act has raised concerns about violence and law and order in the region ahead of the BMC polls. The incident occurred in the Bandra East area while the candidate was campaigning for votes.

The injured political leader has been identified as Haji Salim Qureshi, the Shiv Sena candidate in Ward 92. He is also part of the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. According to authorities, during the evening, some unknown assailants attacked him in a residential area, stabbing him in the abdomen before fleeing. The injured leader was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, which confirmed that his condition is stable. 

Police surrounded the area immediately after the attack and began an investigation. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being checked to identify the culprits. 

A case has been registered, and groups have been formed to track down those responsible for the attack. The incident has prompted political responses from various groups. The safety of candidates and workers has become a concern during election campaigning.

The BMC election is seen as a significant political contest for the people of Maharashtra. The stabbing has once again raised concerns about security arrangements for candidates during the campaign period. Mumbai police have announced that additional security measures will be considered for sensitive wards to prevent such incidents.

The Authorities have also been called upon to guarantee peaceful campaigning and maintenance of law and order throughout the electoral process. With the intensification of campaigning before polling, the attack brings into focus the uphill task the authorities face in keeping the environment safe for democratic participation in the city.
