In a deeply distressing incident that has shaken Madhya Pradesh, a 35-year-old man convicted of rape, who had been released early from prison, has committed yet another heinous act. On Wednesday evening, the man, identified as Rakesh Verma, raped another minor girl in Satna district, leaving the region in shock. The victim is currently in critical condition and has been referred to Rewa Medical College Hospital for urgent medical attention.
City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mahendra Singh Chouhan provided details about the disturbing sequence of events. Around 12 years ago, Verma was found guilty of raping a minor girl who was only about four and a half years old at the time. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, he served only seven years due to good behaviour and was subsequently released from jail about one and a half years ago.
In the recent incident, Verma lured the minor girl by showing affection toward her and then committed the crime. The police were alerted to the situation and launched a search for the minor. Tragically, they discovered that the accused had indeed raped the girl. She was promptly taken to the hospital for initial treatment and later transferred to Rewa for further medical care.
The authorities have arrested Verma and registered a case against him under the relevant sections of the law. The police are actively investigating the matter. Despite his prior conviction and early release, Verma’s actions have once again shocked the community.
Regarding potential actions against the perpetrator’s properties, CSP Chouhan indicated that appropriate measures would be taken as needed to address the situation. The incident has not only sparked outrage but also underscored the importance of ensuring proper justice and protection for victims, especially when dealing with individuals who have a history of such crimes.
