Darren Kent, an acclaimed actor most recognised for his part in Game of Thrones, has passed away. Variety, the US-based news organization, reports that Kent passed away on August 11. He was in his late thirties.

His talent agency, Carey Dodd Associates, announced his passing in a statement shared on Twitter on Tuesday, saying, “It is with deep sadness that we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday. His parents and best friend [were] by his side. Our thoughts and love are with his family at this difficult time. RIP, my friend.” The cause of death has not yet been made public.

Kent attended Italia Conti and graduated in 2007; He was born and raised in Essex. His breakthrough performance came in the 2008 slasher film Mirrors,” and later he became a part of the Emmy-winning “Game of Thrones.” Kent played a goatherd in Slavers Bay in the famous series. He most recently made an appearance as a reanimated corpse in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Other films with which he has been associated include Snow White and the Huntsman, Marshal’s Law, Bloody Cuts, The Frankenstein Chronicles, Blood Drive, and Birds of Sorrow.

His death is being mourned, and emotional tributes were sent on Twitter by admirers, friends, and former co-stars.

In 2012, Kent earned the Van D’Or Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Danny in the movie Sunny Boy, a young kid with a rare skin ailment who was unable to be in the sun. Kent battled osteoporosis, arthritis, and a skin problem similar to his on-screen persona.

The 2021 short film “You Know Me,” which he directed, won him a January Award. He was also a well-known author and filmmaker.
