With increasing hype around the iPhone 15, Apple is aiming to produce a sizable portion of smartphones in India. According to a Bloomberg report, the iPhone 15 is being made in Tamil Nadu in an effort to close the gap between Apple’s operations in India and its main production base in China.

The report further added that Apple’s Foxconn Technology Group plant in Sriperumbudur is preparing to export the new iPhone models as soon as they begin to arrive from the company’s primary production facilities in China. Because Apple is embarking on a multi-year strategy to diversify its manufacturing away from China, the business has an increasing need to increase the number of new iPhones coming from India.

The upcoming iPhone is expected to be the most significant update to the gadget in the past three years when it is unveiled on September 12, 2023. The availability of the components, which are primarily imported, will have a significant impact on how many iPhones can be produced in India. The plant in Chennai has increased its production lines.

Prior to the production of the iPhone 14, Apple only assembled a small portion of its iPhones in India. This put India’s production six to nine months behind China’s. The Tata Group has reportedly acquired a Wistron Corp. and Pegatron Corp. factory, both of which will shortly produce the iPhone 15 in India, according to the report.

The iPhone 15 is expected to have a range of new features. Due to the Dynamic Island feature, which aims to provide all iPhone 15 variations with punch-hole displays, customers may anticipate a more streamlined design with smaller bezels and a larger display.

The A17 Bionic processor, produced using TSMC’s 3nm technology for continued performance and efficiency advancements, is expected to be included in the iPhone 15 Pro versions. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are both anticipated to have the A16 Bionic chip. The starting capacity for the iPhone 15 Pro models is anticipated to be 256GB, which is a major increase from the iPhone 14 Pro’s 128 GB starting storage. The camera system is expected to receive significant improvements across the board, and the Pro models will get a better 3-nanometer processor.
