In the Akhnoor area of Jammu and Kashmir, two army soldiers, including a captain, were killed and one injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that was allegedly set by militants.

Three soldiers were injured in the devastating explosion that occurred close to an army station in the Laleali neighbourhood of Akhnoor while soldiers were on patrol, according to sources. After the injured were taken to a medical institution, two of them passed away from their injuries.

According to officials, a huge search and rescue effort was initiated after the incident, and reinforcements were dispatched to the region.

Among the earliest weapons in the world are improvised explosive devices, or IEDs. Their use is controlled. Warring parties may use IEDs during hostilities as long as they strictly abide by international humanitarian law, especially the rules of distinction, proportionality, and attack precautions. And its indiscriminate use, or even using it to target the IEDs against civilians, is strictly forbidden.

The attack is the third time in four days that terrorists have crossed the border into the Jammu region. The most recent occurrence happened one day after White Knight Corps General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva revised hostile activities along the line of control in Rajouri district.

At approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, a mortar shell was found in Namandar village, Akhnoor area, close to the Partap Canal. After locals informed the authorities, a police squad and bomb disposal unit were able to safely destroy the explosive device.

While on duty at a forward post in the Kalal region of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri on Monday, a soldier was injured by a bullet from the opposite side of the border. On February 8, militants stationed across the Line of Control in Rajouri’s Ker opened fire on an Army patrol.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha offered respects to the deceased soldiers. “I salute the supreme sacrifice of our brave Army hearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their bravery and selflessness will always be remembered. According to the Lieutenant Governor, “The entire nation stands firmly with the family of the martyrs in this hour of grief.
