Police Constable allegedly rapes a minor in Bengaluru.

A police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old minor girl who had approached the police for help after being assaulted by her neighbour.The minor was sexually assaulted by Vicky, her neighbour residing in Bommanahalli, Bengaluru.The police said that the accused, Vicky, a married man promised the minor of marriage and sexually assaulted her. The minor informed her mother about the sexual assault, after which they lodged a complaint at the Bommanahalli police station in December 2023.

The case was being handled by Arun Thonepa,a police constable and the second accused. Under the pretense of helping the minor and promised job opportunity, the accused invited her to a hotel, where he mixed drugs with liquor, coerced her into consuming it and allegedly raped her. He also allegedly filmed the heinous act and threatened to leak it, if she informs anyone.

The minor told her mom about the assault and they filed a complaint against the accused on February 13, 2025. The first accused, Vicky was arrested on the same day whereas the second accused, Arun fled the city but was arrested a few days later. Both of them have been booked under Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (U-4, 6, 10, 12, 15)and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ,2023  (U/s-64(1), 64(2)(a), 351(3)).

The case, initially handled by the same police station where the accused constable was stationed, has been transferred for an impartial investigation.
