Delhi Capitals (DC) showcased an all-round performance with Gujarat Giants (GG) in WPL 2025 after securing a six-wicket victory during the match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday. Under their latest success, Delhi Capitals claimed the first position in the points standings after winning three matches out of five initiated games.

The Gujarat Giants made a weak attempt against Delhi Capitals’ fast bowlers which resulted in a 127/9 total in 20 overs. Three Gujarat Giants batters lost their wickets as Marizanne Kapp (2/17), Shikha Pandey (2/18), and Annabel Sutherland (2/20) combined for seven wickets. Bharti Fulmali scored 40* off 29 balls to lead the Giants to 125 after the team found themselves in a dire position of 60/6 halfway through the match. Deandra Dottin scored 26 runs for Gujarat Giants before Kapp and Pandey captured early wickets to put GG in a vulnerable position.

The DC batting team achieved the victory in 15.1 overs after the chase. Shafali Verma (44 off 27 balls) combined with Jess Jonassen (61* off 32 balls) to produce a second-wicket partnership of 74 runs which secured a victory for Delhi Capitals. Verma ended her impressive innings by hitting 3 sixes and 5 fours before leaving the ground by Ashleigh Gardner. Playing at third position Jonassen followed the batting momentum by hitting her first WPL fifty in 26 balls. Despite losing, Jemimah Rodrigues (5) along with Sutherland (1), later in the match, DC won easily with 29 overs left before the final ball.

Gujarat maintained their unsuccessful streak as they won only one out of their four games. The team experienced ongoing struggles in batting performance because their main lineup could not deliver results despite making changes to their lineup. The designation as title contenders became stronger for DC because of their disciplined bowling and their aggressive batting performance.

The emphatic victory placed Delhi Capitals on top of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru standings thus ensuring their playoff potential stays strong.
