In an attempt to blow up the army personnel’s train in Nepanagar, Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district, multiple detonators were discovered on a railway track, authorities said on Monday.

On September 18, while the army’s special train was travelling from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka, an incident happened close to the Sagphata railway station. Typically, the purpose of these railway detonators was to create noise during the foggy season. The locomotive pilot heard a sound and informed control by applying emergency brakes as a special army train went over them.

The crime is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), railroads, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and local police. Interestingly, these detonators were expired. It’s unknown how the detonators wound up on the tracks, but the railways have processes in place for getting rid of old ones.

The Third Kanpur Train Derailment Attempt

On Sunday, a gas cylinder was discovered on the rails in Uttar Pradesh, the scene of the third attempted train disaster this month close to Kanpur. The incident happened on the Delhi-Howrah rail line close to the Prempur railway station. An inquiry is currently underway. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded quickly to the incident.

When the event occured, a freight train was travelling from Kanpur to Prayagraj on the loop line. When he was instructed to stop so that the other express train could pass the section, the locomotive pilot noticed the gas cylinder and alerted the control room right away. At Prempur Station at 5:50 a.m. on September 22, a freight train travelling from Kanpur towards Prayagraj was forced to stop using its emergency brakes when the driver noticed a gas cylinder resting on the rails. After examining the cylinder, the railway IOW (Inspector of Work), security, and other teams took it off the tracks. An investigation into the matter has been ordered, according to a statement from CPRO North Central Railway.

The Kalindi Express struck a gas cylinder that was left on the track close to Kanpur on September 9, while it was travelling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani in Haryana. But fortunately, an accident was avoided. Fish plates and keys were discovered and removed by railway officials from a railway track close to Kim Railway Station in Surat, Gujarat, on Saturday, foiling another attempt at a train derailment.

A Jan Shatabdi driver in Uttarakhand notices an iron rod on the rails.

The Naini Jan Shatabdi Express loco pilot saw a telephone pole on the rails on September 18 and used emergency brakes to prevent a potential train collision in Uttarakhand. Authorities claimed it might be a sabotage attempt. The pole was allegedly placed on the rails by two drug users, according to the police. They were recognized as Vijender, also known as Tinku, and Sandeep Chauhan, also known as Sunny. According to the police, when they noticed the approaching train, they abandoned their attempt to take the telephone pole and left it on the tracks.
