The Emmy Awards occur every year and celebrate the outstanding achievements in the world of television industry. These awards are divided into categories like Drama, Comedy and Limited Series. The Emmy Award recognizes both the technical prowess and performances involved in the shows. A few of the notable categories include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead and Supporting Actors and Actresses and awards for writing, directing and more. 

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were held on 15th September 2024 in Los Angeles. The Awards honoured the TV shows and Performers from the latter half of 2023 and early 2024. Emmy serves as the barometer of the actors and show’s success as winning an Emmy is considered a huge symbol of victory in one’s career. ‘Hacks’ shined as the winner for Outstanding comedy series. 

‘The Bear’ star Jeremy Allen White grabbed the award for the best Lead Actor. The shower of awards did not stop there for ‘The Bear’ as his co-stars- Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas won the Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a comedy series categories, respectively. ‘The Bear’ creator Christopher Storer got the Best Directing award in Comedy. 

‘Baby Reindeer’- the Netflix show also won in the category of the Outstanding Limited Series. Richard Gadd- the writer and actor of the series received his first Emmy for best writing and best actor in a limited series. 

Jodie Foster won the Best Actress in a Limited Series for her work in ‘True Detective- The Night County’. 

The Outstanding Talk Series was won by The Daily Show, the contenders being The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Show with Stephen Colbet. 

For the Outstanding Reality Competition Program, The Traitors grabbed the award amidst the others like The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Top Chef and The Voice. In the Category for the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series- Last Week Tonight with John Oliver took the lead ahead of Saturday Night Live.

The Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or a Movie was awarded to Lamorne Morris for ‘Fargo’. Other nominations in this category included Lewis Pullman for ‘Lessons in Chemistry’, Treat Williams in ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’, Robert Downey Jr. in ‘The Sympathizer’, etc. The Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or a Movie was given to Jessica Gunning for ‘Baby Reindeer’. The list of nominations for this award included Dakota Fanning for ‘Ripley; Lily Gladstone in ‘Under the Bridge’, Aja Naomi King in ‘Lessons in Chemistry’, Diane Lane for her performance in ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’, Nava Mau for ‘Baby Reindeer’ and Kali Reis for ‘True Detective: Night County’.
