Sanjay Raut calls out sensationalism, does not reject claim

SUDESHNA RAY

On Saturday, Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut called Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis’s CM offer claim, an attempt at sensationalism aimed at confusing people but he did not reject the claims. Fadnavis claimed that he was offered the CM position by Uddhav Thackeray during the Eknath Shinde faction rebellion in 2022.

In an interview with a news channel, Fadnavis stated that he was contacted by Uddhav Thackeray to join hands and offered the CM position. “I made it clear that that moment had passed. I am not the one who will betray. When they have rebelled and joined hands with us, we cannot betray them. That is why I refused it.”, he stated.

Raut, commenting on this incident, did not deny that the two could have had this communication as the prevalent current and opposition leaders at the time. “What is wrong when two leaders communicate? What is the point in sensationalizing the discussion?”, Raut stated.

In the period in question, NCP chief, Sharad Pawar had stated “I think Fadnavis has not accepted the number two position happily”. Raut added that this claim was an attempt by Fadnavis to create confusion among people and assert his importance.
