The two-day Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting, which starts on Wednesday in Goa, will feature more than 100 representatives from G20 nations and will focus on fostering international cooperation for the development of sustainable and renewable energy.
Union Power Secretary Pawan Agarwal will preside over the fourth ETWG meeting while India is holding the G20 presidency, according to a power ministry statement.
The conference will also feature Union Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Union Mines Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj, and Union New & Renewable Energy Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla.
There are six priority areas outlined under India’s G20 presidency.
Energy transitions that close technological gaps; low-cost financing for energy transitions; energy security and diverse supply chains; energy efficiency; industrial low-carbon transitions; responsible consumption; fuels for the future (3F); and universal access to clean energy as well as just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition pathways are some of these.
After gatherings in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai to discuss best practices, policies, and cutting-edge strategies that enable a fair and inclusive energy transition, the fourth ETWG summit will continue this work.
The draught Ministerial Communique, which is being discussed and will be further firmed up, will be the primary focus of the 4th ETWG meeting.
During the week of July 19–23 in Goa, the Department of Science and Technology and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will jointly host the 14th edition of the Clean Energy Ministerial. Advancing Clean Energy Together is the CEM’s central focus.
