Hyderabad industrialist V C Janardhan Rao was killed by his 28 year old grandson in a rage due to a fight over property.
The owner and chairman of the Veljan group of Hyderabad, V C Janardhan Rao, was suspectedly stabbed to death by his 28-year-old grandson, K Kirti Teja, over disputes for property. Although the incident took place on 6 February 2025, the police arrested K. Kirti Teja on 8 February 2025, Saturday, and he is kept under judicial custody.
In a report released by the Press Trust of India (PTI), it was reported that Kirti initially got involved in a heated argument with his grandfather over the distribution of the property. In a fit of rage, he stabbed his 86-year-old grandfather, which led to his death on the spot. The PTI further reported that, ‘when Kirti’s mother intervened to stop him from committing the crime, she was as well attacked by him. Although severely injured, she was taken to the hospital on time and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.’
The police reported that Kirti took this step when he accused his grandfather of behaving ‘indifferently’ with him since his childhood. It was also reported that the accused, before stabbing the victim, told him that ‘he was not gaining the amount of respect he deserved from people and employees of the company, as Janardhan Rao did not distribute his property equally among the family members.’
V C Janardhan Rao was an industrialist, a philanthropist, and the chairman and the managing director of the ‘Veljan Group of Companies’ in Hyderabad. According to a report released by the media house News 18, it was reported that not only a businessman, Janardhan Rao, also believed in donating his earnings for the good cause of humanity. He was one of the donors of one of the biggest temples of South India, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, and in health sectors, like donating money to the Government General Hospital, which is located in Eluru.
