Haas confirms that they will proceed with the current driver line-up of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg for the 2024 Formula 1 season. On Aug. 24, Haas announced the drivers’ stint with the team would continue after the Dutch Grand Prix.
Hulkenberg, who replaced Mick Schumacher, has had an impressive return to the grid. Additionally, Schumacher costs less than he does for the small team.
The two drivers have a combined experience of 346 Grand Prix starts, and Haas hopes to take the team to the next level based on this experience. In the last two years, the American team has finished eighth in the constructors’ championship.
In an interview with AutoWeek, Team Principal Guenther Steiner said, “I think it’s safe to say that we’ve had an extremely solid driver pairing this season in Formula 1 and ultimately there was no reason to look to change that moving forward.”
The partnership between Hulkenberg and Magnussen has benefited the team, considering they have scored points in almost every race. The former also has one of the best seasons in recent times, with 9 points in the drivers’ world championship.
The team’s biggest rival at the moment is Williams. They are tied at the moment with 11 points each. Steiner hopes to finish the 2023 Constructors World championship above Williams, hoping to outscore them in the next few races.
