In an open letter, on Sunday, the All India Hindu Mahasabha made the demand of replacing Mahatma Gandhi’s image on currency notes with that of freedom fighter V D Savarkar and others with notable contributions to the freedom struggle.

The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha performed havan and rituals on the occasion of Savarkar’s 58th death anniversary on Sharda Road. They also suggested that the road leading to the Parliament House be renamed after former Hindu Mahasabha president Savarkar, as a tribute to his role in the nation’s freedom.

Pandit Ashok Sharma, Vice President of the All India Hindu Mahasabha presided over the programme in his remembrance and reiterated that Savarkar was a historical revolutionary in India’s freedom struggle.

Mahasabha leaders urged the Modi government to follow through with these demands which would be a true tribute to V D Savarkar and his relentless efforts for the country and its freedom movement.
