India secured a total of nine medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games with the Day 2 of the competition concluding. The Indian contingent has won two gold medals, three silver medals, and four bronze medals so far.
The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

This year 45 countries are taking part in these games.

– Women’s Cricket: India defeated Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final to win their first-ever gold medal in women’s cricket at the Asian Games.
– Air Rifle: India won its first gold medal in the 10m air rifle men’s team event, with Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Divyansh Singh Panwar clinching the top spot.
– Air Pistol (single): Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won the bronze medal in the 10m under the singles category.
– Rapid Fire Pistol: India won the bronze medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol team men’s event, with Anish Bhanwala, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh clinching the podium finish.
-Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls: Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh won a silver medal in the men’s lightweight doubles sculls event in rowing.
– Men’s Eight: Indian rowers clinched a silver medal in the men’s coxed eight team event.
– Men’s Rowing : Lekh Ram and Babu Lal Yadav secured the bronze medal in the men’s Rowing pair event.
– Shooting: Indian shooters bagged the women’s team silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Team Women Shooting event.
– Shooting (Individual): Ramita Jindal clinched the bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle Individual event.
India is currently ranked third in the medal tally, behind China and Japan. The Games will continue until September 25.
