India’s K-9 security team, including Belgian Shepherds, German Shepherds, and a Labrador, will be stationed in Paris for the duration of the Summer Games. The team has been sent to the 2024 Paris Olympics to enhance safety and security.
The K-9 teams are from India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which are known for their skills in providing high-level security at such important events. Their responsibilities include tasks like patrolling and sniffing at various Olympic venues keeping the safety of athletes, officials and spectators in mind.
India is going to be deployed to assist with security at the Olympics for the first time. This shows that the world is recognizing India’s expertise in security management of major events. The squad will be on duty until the completion of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Paris 2024 Olympics is all set to take place from July 26 to August 11, hence, extensive security measures are being put in place to ensure public safety. The Indian K-9 squad consists of two highly trained dogs named Vast and Denby, along with three handlers. The collaboration between the two nations to safeguard the international sporting event is a testament of strong security cooperation.
Police officers are stationed at checkpoints in central paris where a formidable security perimeter has been established along the River Seine to control access to the area. The opening ceremony is on July 26 that will be held on the river, and therefore, whoever is attending it must have a pre-registered permit or OR code to enter the secured zone.
Not just for security purposes but India will also mark their presence to win medals in the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian contingent is going to be represented by 117 strong members and is all set to win more medals this time than Tokyo Olympics 2020. There are a total of 47 female and 70 male athletes who will participate. There is going to be the largest representation with 29 athletes in track and field events. They are also sending a team of 140 support staff and officials along with the team.
