Prime Minister Narendra Modi, holding his significant roundtable discussion, met some of America’s most influential technology CEOs of American technologies on innovation, collaboration, and growing grounds in the Indian tech landscape. Modi met top American technology CEOs at his New York leg at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel where he is spending three days, attending events.
The roundtable was organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Engineering. The speakers at the roundtable included prominent personalities from the world of technology, such as Google’s Sundar Pichai, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, among others. Topics under discussion included recent developments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
In a tweet from X, the PM said the discussion was “fruitful and so important” as the conversation had been around technology, innovation, and what India has achieved in the past. He was optimistic about the future of the industry and said the CEOs expressed an optimistic view of the future.
The roundtable encompassed some of the key sectors like AI, quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductor technologies, according to an MEA statement. The CEOs, along with PM Modi, looked at the global technology landscape as well as the ways through which these advanced technologies are playing into improving the lives of citizens, especially in India. They discussed the ways through which innovations in technology could be factors in transforming the global economy and driving human development.
On Artificial Intelligence, the Prime Minister of India said that India looked for ‘AI for All,’ anchored on ethical and responsible use. He reassured the CEOs that India was committed to protecting intellectual property rights and creating an environment that would foster innovative ideas, working on technology with innovation. He urged the business leaders to ride the opportunity that India’s economy, growing rapidly, could have in marking the way toward being the third-largest around the world.
The meeting also focused on investment opportunities in the fast-paced startup ecosystem of India, with technological innovation increasingly faster. In a nutshell, it was established that the final and most certain key avenue through which American companies could access the Indian market and partake in the creation of new technologies and solutions lay in startups.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, thanked PM Modi and the CEOs for their engagement. He reiterated that MIT has continued its commitment to making good use of technology and collaborating to improve technological collaboration between the United States and India and important sectors in technology.
