On October 9, 2024, Infosys Limited officially unveiled its plans for a collaboration with Microsoft to drive the global adoption and usage of generative AI (GenAI) and the Azure cloud platform by Microsoft.

This combined effort is being viewed as a strategic collaboration that will foster greater technological advancements in the existing devices and services. Infosys had begun making use of GitHub Copilot, an AI-powered coding tool by Microsoft earlier, which further helped in the shaping of this collaboration announced on Wednesday. GitHub Copilot has been one of the essential digital services used by over 18,000 Infosys developers, resulting in the generation of more than seven million lines of code.

From a business perspective, Infosys and Microsoft’s collaboration is aimed at increasing the existing technology investment for their joint customers. The partnership will further result in a massive digital transformation at the global level.

Infosys is expected to combine Microsoft’s GenAI services with its own Solution IP portfolio. This step will bring new and advanced technologies to the table, making the clients experience a unique blend of expansive opportunities, value for money and flexibility in the tech market. For these plus points, Infosys was opted as the strategic supplier for handling Microsoft customers’ cloud and AI functioning.

The Infosys-Microsoft collaboration will be seen in the services of varied sectors like healthcare, supply chain, telecommunications and finance.

On the financial front, Infosys’ work experience with Finacle and Microsoft’s advanced services is expected to jointly offer premium quality services to financial institutions. Infosys Helix, which was developed on Microsoft Azure, is an advanced healthcare payer platform that is trying to transform the interaction between healthcare providers and patients. The combined powers of TradeEdge and Azure OpenAI will bring a wave of advancements in the supply chain sector. Infosys Cortex, which is an integration between Microsoft GenAI and Copilot, is specially designed to provide individualised support as a customer engagement platform.

Chief Partner Officer at Microsoft, Nicole Dexen commented on the collaboration and stated that this partnership will capture GenAI’s strength and use it to transform existing services into innovative solutions.

This collaboration, with its diverse ventures and unique solutions, promises a new shift in the technology landscape for all the users and customers of both companies.
