The Maharashtra government has launched a new campaign to empower women in the state called “Har Ghar Durga,” or a Durga in every home, just in time for the start of the Navratri holiday. Young women enrolled in state-run industrial schools will be provided with complimentary self-defence instruction as part of this effort. There will be no charge for the training.
We aim to make sure that every home in our community has a powerful Durga who can battle the evildoers as we get ready to celebrate Navratri, a festival honoring Goddess Durga, the slayer of evil and a symbol of strength. This is our campaign’s guiding principle, “Har Ghar Durga.”Mangal Prabhat Lodha, a Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra, told News18. The minister clarified that students in government institutions will not be the only ones participating in this program.
He continued, “Any woman who wants to learn self-defence is welcome to participate.”
Throughout the year, there will be two or three weekly self-defence classes.
The official “Har Ghar Durga” campaign launch is scheduled for September 30 at the Government Industrial Institute in Kurla. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will preside over the event. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra, as well as Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, will be in attendance. This initiative by Maharashtra government to teach self-defense to women is noble cause
Actress Ada Sharma, who gained recognition for her performance in The Kerala Story, is also anticipated to attend the function. These classes on self-defence will be taught by qualified instructors that we have chosen. According to the report, Lodha stated, “The goal is to make self-defence instruction as regular and integral as any other subject taught in these institutions.”
Additionally, the minister has urged Navratri committees to include self-defence classes in their festivities.
“This celebration honours the strength and power of women. It seems appropriate that we honour it by giving our ladies real power. Any group in Thane or Mumbai that wishes to host these workshops during the celebrations may count on us to supply qualified instructors,” Lodha added.
