The long awaited Deadpool & Wolverine is stated to be a cameo-filled entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In an interview executive producer Wendy Jacobson stated that not all the marketing material is to be believed, the movie is filled with surprises. Fans have been trying to get as many details as possible to see if the movies are going to be tied up to the greater MCU or with the existing X-Men universe.
Wendy Jacobson also stated that Marvel has gone to great lengths to keep the secrets wrapped. She also said that Marvel has left hints of misdirection across the internet to protect the secret. After her statement the internet went into a meltdown people started second-guessing themselves on all the information they had learned about Deadpool & Wolverine.
Vinnie Jones (Juggernaut) earlier this year stated that he would not be part of the project due to personal grudges with the creative team. Months after the statement a trailer seemed to feature his character.
The cameo-filled movie is expected to include Lady Deadpool played by Ryan Reynolds’ real-life wife Blake Lively. Previously these were rumors that Lady Deadpool will be played by Taylor Swift which was later debunked by Entertainment Weekly. Fans also are hoping for cameos by James Marsden’s Cyclops, James McAvoy’s Professor X and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra.
A similar tactic was used to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home, which paid off massively. This does not mean that Deadpool & Wolverine will be as big of a bombshell as the previous film. Marvel has struggled to create hype for their movies and TV shows in the last few years but now it seems like they are back on track.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in theaters this weekend, July 26. The movie is expected to perform exceptionally well due to the return of Hugh Jackman as the fan favorite Wolverine. Deadpool being a character loved by both male and female audience members the movie is expected to break a few records. The Previous Deadpool films stand on 2nd and 3rd position in the highest grossing R rated films of all time only behind Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
