Shiv Sena (UBT- Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former Uddhav Sena MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, was tragically shot on Thursday night after an alleged personal dispute in Mumbai’s Dahisar area. Ghosalkar was taken to Karuna Hospital in Borivali while in critical condition, but he sadly passed away from his wounds. The entire incident took place at Mauris Noronha’s workplace. It was streamed live on Facebook, and the upsetting footage went viral on social media.

Between 7- 8 P.M., Abhishek Ghosalkar received an invitation from Mauris Bhai, a reputed local, to his office on the pretext of a saree distribution event. This invitation led to the altercation. Following Ghosalkar’s speech, Mauris Bhai opened fire on him during a Facebook Live session that the two of them took part in from his office. The Sena (UBT) leader was reportedly shot three times before the attacker turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

According to Republic, DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roushan stated, “The shooting occurred in the evening, and the accused shot himself after shooting Ghosalkar. We are looking into the conspiracy. We’re working on a thorough Panchnama. Additionally present to gather the evidence is a forensic team.”

A Republic TV source claimed that Mauris had previously been charged with rape. The accused  suspected Abhishek Ghosalkar of plotting against him and may have held a personal grudge. According to sources, there was a prior exchange of money between the two. Mauris had planned to kill Ghosalkar in retaliation.

Mauris Noronha, who is locally referred to as “Mauris Bhai” is a well-known individual in the political circles of his native Maharashtra. He led a voluntary organization and presented himself on social media as a leader, social worker, and philanthropist. Reports, however, point to a long-standing rivalry between Abhishek Ghosalkar and Mauris Bhai, driven by underlying political disagreements, which tragically resulted in the fatal incident.

Former Mumbai corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar was trying to make amends with Mauris Noronha via live streaming on Facebook to improve their community in the IC colony. When shots were fired at Ghosalkar near the end of the video, the situation took a terrible turn despite their best attempts to patch things up. Police reports state that Mauris Bhai died by suicide and Ghosalkar was taken to the hospital but died from his wounds. The incident has drawn reprimands from the opposition stating “lawlessness and Jungle Raj” in Maharashtra politics.
