On Monday, The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the list of Police Medal Awardees ahead of India’s 76th Independence Day. Four Pune Police Personnel will also be recognised for their dedicated duty and outstanding service.
The Commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police and a Pune native, Vinay Kumar Choubey, stand out among the honorees. For his exceptional services, he will get the President’s Police Medal.
To further boost the city’s pride, three more Pune police personnel will be awarded the Police Medal for their outstanding meritorious service. Vyankatesh Sidram Palakurti, a Police Sub Inspector (PSI), Pradip Namdev Rangade, an Inspector, and Mohan Bhanudas Dongare, an Assistant Sub-inspector of Police (ASI) with the ATS’s Pune division, are among the honoured.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a member of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has applied for the President’s Police Medal for Valour (PPMG). 229 CRPF members have applied for the Police Medal for Valour (PMG), 82 for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 642 for the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
According to the announcement, the Jammu and Kashmir Police would receive the most Police Medals for Valour (55), followed by the Maharashtra Police (33), the Central Reserve Police Force (27), and the Chhattisgarh Police (24).
These awards are announced twice yearly, the other time being on Republic Day.
The President’s Police Medal for Valour is given out for conspicuous bravery in defending life and property, averting crime, or apprehending offenders.
The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service are given out for valuable service demonstrating resourcefulness and devotion to duty.
