Quad Meet at Wilmington.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and all the Global leaders hailing from the United States, Japan, and Australia all assembled at the Quad Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, a few hours after PM Modi traveled to Philadelphia for his three-day official visit to the United States.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the summit with a powerful statement that made several headlines globally- “ A free, open, and united Indo-Pacific Zone is our foremost priority”. The summit hosted by Joe Biden in Wilmington embarked on a good start with these powerful words. The summit was attended by the Australian leader Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. 

PM Modi shed immense light on the fact the Quad leaders should move ahead with democratic values in these crude times. He also said that the team is not against anyone and would like to move together. The Prime Minister also stressed in the Quad’s manifesto that we all support the international rule order, the respect for sovereignty, maintaining territorial integrity, and resolving disputes to peaceful point. He further added the wish the leaders have to have prosperous and peaceful zone for all. 

The Prime Minister also spoke about how Quad has done so well in sectors such as Health, Security, and most importantly Technology. He also pointed out Climate Change and the solutions that were provided. He also offered the leaders to meet in India in 2025 and also stressed the fact that Quad is not going anywhere and here is to stay and will continue to complement and work together.

The four leaders have decided to launch a Quad Cancer Moonshot; this is an initiative to reduce the lives lost in the Indo-Pacific region to Cancer, their initial primary focus is on Cervical Cancer. The reports are saying that there are already results saving hundreds of thousands of lives over the decades.

There was also a discussion about maritime safety along the Indian Coast Guard along the lines of the United States,  Japan, and Australia. This initiative was called “Quad-at-Sea-Ship Observer” This will improve the interoperability in the region. An Indo-Pacific Logistics Network has been established to handle natural disasters in the region.
