Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher are set to shine in R, Balki’s upcoming film ‘Ghoomer’, which has been chosen as the opening film for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). The IFFM is one of the largest film festivals outside of India and it will be held from 11th August to 20th August 2023, in Melbourne, Australia. The film also features Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles.

Expressing their gratitude for the film’s selection as the opening feature of the IFFM, Balki, and Bachchan released a joint statement. They described ‘Ghoomer’ as a tale of innovation and emphasised its significance as a tribute to sports and human resilience. The film tells the inspiring story of a paraplegic sportsperson portrayed by Saiyami Kher, who excels in cricket and receives coaching from Abhishek Bachchan’s character.

Saiyami Kher shared her excitement about the project on Instagram, describing it as a dream come true. She wrote, “Every project I do feels special, some feel extra special. All my life, I’ve dreamt of living the life of a professional cricketer. ‘Ghoomer’ gave me that opportunity. As they say, when you really want something, the universe conspires to make it happen…It feels too good to be true.” She also referred to the project as a product of “teamwork”.

As ‘Ghoomer’ takes center stage at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, cinephiles and fans eagerly await the chance to witness the magic that the film promises to deliver.
